Human Factors Specialist

We are looking for a human factors specialist with experience in performing human factors user studies. You will be helping to revolutionize the way we think about and design products with our Fortune 500 client. Through their world-class interdisciplinary team of scientists and researchers, and state of the art lab facilities, they push beyond the limits of convention to innovate and inspire designs and experiences that truly maximize human capabilities.


Responsibilities


  • Perform statistical analysis of large and small datasets.
  • Support a wide range of human factors user assessment and research studies, applicable to all product phases from conceptual to validation.
  • Bring new perspectives to the team.
  • Write reports and document research/study findings, using internal reporting tools or other platforms.
  • Support human factors user studies in internal laboratory settings as well as in-field studies involving front-line workers such as the Department of Defense (DoD) agencies or others in the public sector and other industrial verticals.
  • Develop and execute activities on data collection and/or human factors user studies, informing product and engineering design directions.
  • Summarize human factors and user data, quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • Understand and comply with user privacy policies and research ethics involving human subjects.


Qualifications


  • Knowledge in one or more of the following topics: Anthropometry, biosensing, electromyography (EMG), ergonomics, fit and comfort, Fitts Law, kinematics, motion capture, psychophysics, and visual comfort and image quality.
  • Ability to plan and manage projects involving internal and external partners/vendors.
  • Ability to employ appropriate methods (quantitative and qualitative) and tools (lab instruments, surveys, and assessment) to address questions at hand.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following instruments/tools: Accelerometers, C-Motion Visual 3D, eye tracking, force plates, motion capture, pressure sensors, strain gauges, structured-light 3D capture, and Unity 3D.
  • 1 to 3 years of industry experience with a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Cognitive Science/Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Kinesiology, or related fields, or significant research experience in the above fields with a doctorate degree.
  • Experience summarizing data, rapidly performing statistical analysis, and detecting patterns in unstructured data.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following data analysis packages: Excel, MATLAB, R, and Python.
