What We Offer


We are looking for a full-time experienced Housing Specialist to add to ShelterCare's fantastic Short Term Housing (STH) team.

ShelterCare is a non-profit that believes in "housing first", we meet people where they are. This role will work directly with individuals experiencing homelessness who may have mental health and/or substance abuse disorders to develop a housing plan, complete application materials, and identify resources to secure appropriate, affordable housing. You will work closely with the program team to determine a service plan for each client.


The starting hourly wage for this position is $17.21 - $17.85 depending on a number of factors including experience.


Required


What you bring to ShelterCare:


  • Professional experience or volunteer experience working with homeless individuals and a comprehensive understanding of, and comfort operating within the homeless community.
  • Able to successfully pass a DHS background chec.
  • Effective computer and keyboarding skills
  • BA/BS in behavioral science OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience including experience working with individuals who have been homeless, a diagnosed Serious Mental Illness or experiencing high medical needs providing counseling, crisis management, and support
  • Effective verbal and written skills.
  • Valid driving license to operate agency vehicles.


Preferred


  • Prior housing experience strong preferred.
