General Summary

Perform supervisory duties in the care, cleaning, and general housekeeping of Duke University Health System facilities. This position will report directly to Director of Enviromental Services.


Work Performed

  • Monitor and ensure the training of new personnel.
  • Ensure that assignments are appropriately staffed and that employees have adequate supplies and equipment for completion of assignments.
  • Discuss general housekeeping procedures with personnel of the assigned area; recommend and implement changes in procedures.
  • Take necessary action to correct any mechanical, structural, or electrical condition in need of repair or replacement.
  • Establish and maintain housekeeping schedules and assign employees to duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Perform other related areas for various housekeeping duties; conduct comprehensive inspection to check the completion of work assignments.
  • Maintain records and submit reports concerning personnel, equipment, supplies, expense, and general housekeeping activities.
  • Recommend various personnel action including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • EVS background and experience strongly preferred
  • Floor care experience preferred
  • Supervision/Team lead experience


Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires the ability to provide instructions and maintain records generally acquired through a partial high school education.


Experience

Work requires three years of cleaning or related experience necessary to obtain knowledge of scope of housekeeping unit operations. Supervisory experience preferred.
