“Career in Blood”


The Hospital Services Representative position is responsible for receiving, selecting, packaging and arranging delivery for blood components. This position reports to the Logistics Supervisor or designee.


Inventory Management


  • Check and respond to storage devices alarms
  • Responsible for properly updating each component into computer during delivery returns
  • Use first in first out method of inventory control
  • Store blood and components in appropriate refrigerator, freezer, or incubator
  • Arrange blood products according to expiration dates, and remove all expired products according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Make outgoing telephone calls to hospitals and other centers to maximize utilization of available inventory
  • Responsible for proper inventory control methods by following current Standard Operating Procedures
  • Responsible for properly recording questionable blood products and reporting to a laboratory supervisor


Hospital Orders


  • Receive, record, and verify customer orders accurately; when feasible, ask customers to substitute short-dated components
  • Fill and pack orders accurately
  • Follow established procedures to properly process component returns


Customer Service


  • Document and report any unusual incidents to supervisory staff
  • Request support from RIBC on-call supervisors as appropriate
  • Present a clean, neat appearance and abide by HS dress code
  • Display professionalism to both internal and external customers


Paperwork/Reporting


  • Responsible for accurate completion of department forms
  • May be required to complete or asked to provide support to responsible individual


High School diploma or equivalent (GED)


Communicate clearly using a telephone


Valid drivers license with no moving traffic violations within the last 3 years


Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to move packed boxes. Stand, sit and/or drive throughout the work shift . Work in <-18C Freezers. FBI Fingerprinting is required after hire.
The hours for position are flexible.
Saturday to Tuesday-1000pm to 800am or 900pm to 700m
The proposed hourly wage for this position is $17.82/hour.
