Job Description
The Data Analytics Innovations (DAI) team is seeking a self-motivated high school student intern with hands-on experience in software development or machine learning for a summer internship. The internship will focus on creating and training machine learning image recognition models leveraging both real and synthetic data. Synthetic data will be generated from CAD models and rendered in a simulation and data augmentation / training environment such as Omniverse.
The candidate will need a combination of business focus, creative thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and programming knowledge to be able to quickly cycle hypotheses through the discovery phase of the project. Excellent communication, organization, and self-driven investigation skills to understand the needs of the project and work remotely in a small collaborative team environment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with software development by way of work, projects, courses, extra-curricular activities, etc.
  • Preferred previous experience building, training, and/or deploying machine learning models.
  • Preferred previous experience assembling training data for training image recognition models.
  • Preferred previous experience in applying any of the following techniques to business problems: supervised regression/classification, natural language processing, deep learning, anomaly detection, reinforcement learning.
  • Students with an interest in pursuing a BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Biology. STEM related fields.
  • Preferred languages: Python
  • Demonstrated experience working in a technical team environment by way of work or extra-curricular activities.
Desired Skills:
  • Preferred experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

  • Experience with Omniverse a plus

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
