Job Description

Due to the hybrid nature of this role, we will only consider candidates who currently reside in Colorado or those with tentative plans to relocate to Colorado.
On-site Expectations:
  • This job offers primarily remote work structure; however, on-site work may be required 1-2 days per week as dictated by the needs of the job.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Cash Management – review, record, and batch deposits received through cash room and work with clinics to resolve discrepancies.
  • Payment posting of both insurance and patient payments (electronic and manual).
  • Projects assigned may last one day or several weeks, depending on specific need of the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Confirm, update, and/or edit patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Perform all Registration Coordinator level tasks including manual registration, data entry, TES and claim edits and eligibility workflows.
  • Work within the pre-paid services work view to accurately allocate pre-paid payments and issue refunds when appropriate.
  • Complete accurate cost estimate for patients and CU Medicine partners.
  • Perform tasks ranging from data entry to assignments involving critical thinking and research.
  • Assist payment review team with underpayment appeals.
  • Review credit balances, refund requests, overpayments, underpayments and resolve or appeal as necessary.
  • Research and resolve missing checks, missing EOBs and other posting issues.
  • Become fully proficient in all workflows within Registration and Revenue Operations.
  • Verify eligibility via multiple sources.
Requires a high school diploma and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high volume, fast paced medical billing environment; bachelor’s degree in related field is a plus. Must have experience in handling credit balance accounts and refund requests. Prior experience with other areas of revenue cycle such as payment posting and accounts receivable resolution is highly preferred. Demonstrated understanding and the ability to apply contract language to billing is desired. Strong grasp of basic accounting principles is required. Intermediate PC software experience is essential. Must demonstrate advanced verbal and written communication skills. It is essential that the person filling this role be flexible with not only their assignments but with the hours they work. Various projects may require overtime and the person filling this role should be willing when needed.
