Role: Health Safety & Environment Leader
Location:Connersville, Indiana
Job Summary
The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Leader is responsible for the support and facilitation of the HSE system in all company processes to ensure the health and safety of all personnel and to minimize environmental impact. This person will work within the HSE Department closely with all other departments to ensure the proper execution of the HSE system.
The HSE Leader will work with employee teams and managers while exhibiting a professional and cooperative attitude. The HSE Leader will be the primary site contact for HSE when HSE Manager is off-site. This person will receive continuous hands-on experience and training to develop into further responsibility. The HSE Leader will report directly to the HSE Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Support all company safety programs, policies, and procedures and ensure they are effectively communicated to all employees.
Immediately alert management to any serious safety issues and work to implement effective solutions.
Provide support for all environmental-related recordkeeping and administration to include compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and regulatory standards.
Maintain current and accurate information on the company's Incident Management System website.
Maintain safety records, including training, evacuations, and accident and incident records.
Conduct periodic environmental health and safety inspections and support the department to follow action plans ensuring all safety and environmental issues are resolved.
Observe and coach department managers and employees in hazard recognition identifying possible safety concerns/areas of improvement.
Develop and provide company-wide training to employees in accordance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and company standards.
Audit HSE Management Systems (ISO 14001/45001) as appropriate to determine compliance.
Continuously develop into greater responsibility as HSE Professional.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
Must be able to lift/move 40 lbs.
Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Potential to travel to other locations as needed.
Must have a passion for safety and must drive a culture where safety is the number one priority for all employees.
Proven ability to intervene, recognize, and eliminate hazards.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field is strongly desired, but not required.
3-5 years of related HSE experience in a manufacturing environment
Basic knowledge of HSE principles and regulations.
Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency with MS Office Programs
