Job Title: Head of Finance and Accounting

Duration: Full-time

Location: Reno, NV

SUMMARY:

The Head of Finance and Accounting for the Americas is responsible for overseeing the financial activities, governance & compliance of the Region in alignment with the Global Group finance strategy and in compliance with legislations in the places it operates, including applicable Australian laws. This role reports to the Group CFO in full partnership with the GM Americas towards building, implementing & reporting on strategy, forecasting annual and long-range plans and delivering budget targets. This role leads the Americas regional finance team managing finance operations, implementation of departmental strategy, organizational structure, financial business cases, and audits. Further, this role champions financial governance/ compliance with legislations where the region operates including laws of Australia as applicable, local/ international accounting standards and tax/ business laws and in within internal group policies. The successful candidate will have strategic, analytical, and executional acumen with 12+ years of progressive managerial accounting and financial management experience.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategy development and management/reporting of performance

The Head of Finance for Americas is a critical thought leader and stakeholder in advancing or refreshing the financial reporting strategy and/ or performance metrics across the Group. Such reporting may include reporting or performance by business segments, legal entity, geographical areas, product and product types and other metrics. In building these reports, the Head of Finance is expected to act as a partner with the Regional Executive Team (RET) and more specifically as a financial adviser to the Americas GM.

  • Identification and reporting on key business drivers affecting the performance
  • Delivery of the strategic plan, with appropriate identification of strategic intents and financial quantification thereof.
  • Manage working capital in within a risk framework
  • Management of variance analysis and reporting including coordinating of RET identification of corrective actions
  • Leadership of the budget process, ensuring forecast reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Manage cash flow towards maximising cash available to group

Managing Financial Activities / Accounting Operations

  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
  • Assist the GM with financial reporting as required at Board meeting and the Annual General Meetings
  • Ensure that Finance systems, processes and data are improved/exploited for maximum efficiencies and benefits
  • Develop and implement treasury processes minimising exposures to the region, whilst participating in group treasury strategies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the internal and external users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors
  • Manage banking relationships
  • Develop and implement Tax Compliance procedures and assist the CFO in developing group tax strategies and tactics;
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure Company cash security
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, fixed assets and other books/register as may be applicable

Governance

The incumbent is a champion for governance and has the very important role of ensuring that all businesses are carried out in according with all relevant legal obligations and group policies.In that respect, the incumbent has the obligations to directly report to the SET any issues coming to his/ her attention affecting the proper running of the regions.These are not limited to legal obligations and includes proper business conducts, transparent communication of risks, and general behavioural standards in the region.

Team Leadership

  • As part of the Global Finance Team, own the Global Finance Competencies
  • Drive for efficiencies incorporating a sound mix or process, systems and skills
  • Enable timely talent management and acquisition
  • The Head of Finance is responsible for the performance of the finance team and is expected to:
  • Mentor, train and grow finance talent

Americas Executive Team

  • Actively collaborate within the Americas Executive team with the scope to optimize operative processes
  • As member of the Americas Executive team to actively contribute to the observance and propagation of guiding principles: ethics, correctness towards internal colleagues and external partners, and environmental consciousness
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

  • Professional Accounting Qualifications from a recognised professional body
  • MBA is an advantage

Experience:

  • Certifications such as CPA, CFA and CMA or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment within nutritional supplements, food products or consumer packaged goods industry is required.
  • At least 12+ years of progressive managerial accounting and financial management experience.

Skills & abilities:

Computer skills:

  • High level experience with tableau
  • SAP/Excel Super User
  • Experience with BI tools
  • Using MS office suite.
