Job Description

The Head of Content is responsible for building an authentic content portfolio for the US market with a strategic, thoughtful, and data-driven approach. Extensive familiarity and knowledge of the children's entertainment, book, and toy space is preferred. Additionally, experience of aligning closely with sales and marketing teams is essential in this role. The ideal candidate will be creative, smart, diplomatic, and, most importantly, passionate about children’s media and audio storytelling.


The job will be:

  • Manage two Senior Content Managers and the Spanish Editorial Assistant
  • Strategic editorial planning for tonies product and content development and develop a multi-year pipeline of content
  • Responsible for the strategy and development of the Tonies US portfolio, inclusive of licensed, educational, original, and product/content innovation
  • Align closely with the International and Global teams on portfolio planning, priority tonies, and global skus
  • Develop and manage the digital content strategy for the my.tonies app
  • Expert in the children’s media and book publishing industries
  • Align with sales and marketing on portfolio planning, launches, and content & product strategy at retail
  • Collaborate with internal teams to shape the Tonies brand and thought leadership through content
  • Strategically manage the tonies portfolio and slot planning system to set the company up for omnichannel success
  • Develop a data-driven portfolio strategy


Job requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in children’s book publishing, children’s audio, or children’s media
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Great stakeholder management skills (internal & external)
  • Knowledge of the US retail landscape and an understanding of what success means for an omnichannel company
  • Experience working in an international set-up
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage teams as well as work effectively as part of a team
  • Extensive experience in content roadmap development and management, including children’s content acquisition
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
