Position: Head of Communications and PR
Reports to: EVP/Chief Culture Officer
Provide Position Overview: As Head of Communications and Public Relations, the role is responsible for managing The Atlanta Braves and Battery Development public image and brand. They develop strategies for communications and public relations, ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, and partners with the Parent Company and MLB. In addition, they are responsible for all investor relations communications and baseball media relations. They design communication projects and programs, manage public relations budgets, and coordinate with media and press partners. This individual may also address the public at press conferences and gatherings.
Provide Department Overview: This position reports into the Culture Organization and has matrix reporting to the CEO.
Major responsibilities:
  • Provide proactive and reactive advice with all communications strategies across the enterprise
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and goals, provide ongoing coaching, assign accountabilities and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Must possess strong business acumen, industry awareness, interpersonal and organizational skills, and should be comfortable addressing the public and media in person
  • Oversee and manage team media relations
  • Develop and manage executive communications
  • Oversee all public communications and press releases regarding the enterprise policies, practices, products, services, or operations
  • Leverage data and market research to predict budget needs
  • Establish metrics and measurement plans to monitor the effectiveness of all communications
  • Coordinate and develop storytelling for the Atlanta Braves enterprise throughout all mediums
  • Must demonstrate high standards of speaking and writing
  • Work closely with and develop relationships with key media members
  • Providing strategic leadership about the organizations interest and developing communications plans for all stakeholders; fans, broadcasters, employees
  • Responsible for management and development of communications department, currently consisting of 6 team members
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism or Business required
  • 10+ years of leading and managing teams
  • Must complete a successful background check
  • 15+ years of Communications and Public Relations experience required
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
