Gym Monitor - Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center

Community and safety-oriented individuals with a desire to share their passion for sports and leadership, who are able to communicate with a wide range of people. The Gym Monitor is responsible for supervising play, enforcing rules and court etiquette, sportsmanship, and equipment management. Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is currently hiring for our drop-in evening & weekend gym monitor position and gym monitor substitutes.

Gym Monitors are typically scheduled 5-10 hours per week depending on program need; shifts available primarily 7:00pm-9:30pm, Monday - Thursdays, with the possibility of shifts weekend evenings and weekday mornings. Part-time employees are scheduled variable hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year.

Gym Monitor: Job Expectations

  • Physical exertion may be to lift sporting equipment (volleyball nets, table tennis tables, etc.) or items weighing less than 40 pounds.
  • Staff are typically exposed to noises and interruptions, such as bouncing balls, sudden loud noises, including multiple voices and yelling within a crowded environment.
  • This job is primarily performed in an indoor environment.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination is required, making up more than 50% of the work period.
  • Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all the time.

Other Requirements:

  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification or have the ability to obtain certification within first 30 days of hire.
  • Staff are forbidden to participate in drop-in programs while on duty.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
