Our client is a global private equity firm and they have a portfolio of decarbonization focused companies.
A fantastic opportunity exists for a Government Affairs Lead who will develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy for our client and its portfolio companies at federal, state, and local level. Remote position based out of Washington DC.
Core Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with client deal teams and external advisors to identify highest priority opportunity areas for government engagement
• Project manage portfolio company applications for government funding, including loans, grants, and tax incentives
• Lead client Partners’ policy-related engagement with external organizations and partners
• Build and manage effective relationships within the federal executive branch of the government, and relevant state and local governments
• Execute internal coordination of government affairs strategy
• Execute policy monitoring and reporting, and develop analyses of FOAs for client Partners portfolio
• Develop strategic communication materials for government outreach in support of client Partners’ policy positions
• Assist portfolio companies in building internal government affairs capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
• JD, LLM, master’s degree in a related field
• At least 10-12 years of relevant experience consisting of ideally a) at least 3-7 years in a federal government agency with an oversight of energy and climate issues and b) at least 5-7 years of prior work experience in government affairs, including with the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency and/or other relevant agencies
• Track record in obtaining public funding for private companies
• Established network with relevant policy makers and other stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Exceptional project management skills (ideally certification in project management) and experience with project management software
• Culturally able to work in a highly team-oriented environment with a consensus-driven and collaborative approach
• A self-starter, who can interact collaboratively, but operate independently as required
• Located in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area
