Governess/Teacher (Live In)

Full-time Governess/Teacher required for G16, located in Virginia, USA. Salary $100,000 + benefits per annum. Live-in, start ASAP.

This position is only suited to candidates holding a US passport or Green card.

A returning client located in Middleburg, Virginia is seeking a governess/teacher to meet the educational and social needs of their daughter aged 16.

The girl has High-functioning autism (HFA) and is needing a kind, positive Governess/Teacher to assist her daily. She has been struggling to keep up with her peers, socially and academically and the family would like a Governess/Teacher to assist her with her studies and personal development.
The girl is currently studying for her IGCSEs and you will need to follow this curriculum with daily classes to encourage development and progress. In the afternoons you will be required to plan fun activities to help her gain confidence and become more independent.

This is a lovely opportunity for a teacher to leave the classroom, be based in a wonderful location and use the environment, culture, and world around them to allow the girl to develop and grow. Formal classes will be required as well as project work, excursions, extracurricular activities, and games to promote the girl’s learning.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, energetic, kind, well-mannered, and able to become a friend to the girl. As a Governess/Teacher, you will need to be capable of adapting your classes to suit the girl’s learning style and making each day a fun learning experience. The Governess/Teacher will hold a formal teaching qualification and have previous experience of working with High-functioning autism. Driver’s license required.

Accommodation is provided on the family estate.

The working schedule is 5/2. Working hours will be up to 6-8 hours per day.
