Position Overview:

The Global Sourcing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day global sourcing operations to deliver new products to market in coordination with cross-functional partners while maintaining on-time delivery, maximizing profitability, and minimizing risk. This process includes design review, RFQ solicitation, vendor selection (as well as exploring new vendors & innovations), cost negotiation, tooling assignment, material and manufacturing process details, BOM creation & analysis, sample request issuance & management, interaction & coordination with internal customers (design, product management, packaging, purchasing, sales, marketing).


Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for proactive communication with internal and external partners on ongoing product development, elevated roadblocks/issues, and ongoing updates as it relates to supplier performance, sourcing strategies, on-time delivery and production, and quality issues.
  • Review and approve tooling invoices.
  • Assign project (specs) to appropriate vendor(s), and manage the RFQ process
  • Manage calendar adherence to ensure critical milestones are on track. Hold internal and external partners accountable for on-time delivery.
  • Work together with the China team on assigned projects/drawings.
  • Coordinate the process of providing accurate and current data and drawings to vendors during product development.
  • Coordinate with marketing (including packaging) and purchasing when modifications are made to existing products
  • Communicate business award and tooling issuance to the selected vendor
  • Assemble bills of material (BOM) and proforma BOM for review with the Director of Global Sourcing
  • Analyze & fully comprehend product design/specs
  • Coordinate with designers for any drawing revision, tooling revision, prototype request
  • Generate sample & tooling requests, create quote requests, analyze cost component breakdowns and assist in final vendor selection.
  • Drive new development with cross-functional partners through initial design review, driving sample & tooling requests, creating & analyzing cost component breakdowns, and final sample approvals. Clarify requirements for factories regarding tooling, sampling, and packaging.
  • Assist in driving costing strategies through active monitoring of macroeconomic factors, multi bids, capacity planning, negotiations, analysis of total acquisition & profitability, and scenario planning to deliver on cost savings and margin improvements.

  • Must have Superior PC skills with advanced capabilities in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets in excel
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Strong Work Ethic & Integrity
  • Basic Technical knowledge of polymer, metals, ceramics, woods, injection molding process, metal forming, stamping, die-casting.
