Deputy Commissioner, Management & Budget /Building Maintenance Section maintains over 270 Department facilities citywide. These facilities also host public visitors at countless events, dignitaries from other countries/jurisdictions, and families and friends of employees. It is imperative that these facilities remain safe for our staff, critical operations and guests. The projects this position will manage include not only building improvements, but required building code and safety upgrades/mandates, and emergency repairs.
The Building Maintenance Section is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Glazier. This position will primarily be responsible for the following:

• Cutting glass and glass substitutes to size and issues glass or glass substitutes
• Prepares requisitions for material requirements.
• Handling mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment in the glass shop such as: finger grip machines, polishing, and grinding machines, electric hammers, glass drills and electric putty softeners.
• Preparation of openings for installation of glass or glass substitutes,
• Cutting, fitting, installing and replacing glass or glass substitutes in Department buildings, structures and other facilities.
• Installing and securing glass or glass substitutes in various wood and\or metal structures and framework
• Storing and maintaining the glass shop
• Removal of old glass or glass substitutes and putty
• Putties and re-putties all types of sash
• Operates a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites.

1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a glazier; or
2. At least three years of experience as described in ""1"" above and sufficient helper or apprentice experience, or relevant training acquired in an approved trade, technical or vocational high school, to make up the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of satisfactory helper experience, apprentice experience or training.
License Requirement
A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York is required for appointment to the New York City Housing Authority. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment in NYCHA. A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for appointment to certain positions in other agencies. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
