Knife River Corporation – Northwest (KRNW) is seeking one qualified professional to join our Technical Services Department as GIS Manager. This position will be responsible for our geographic information system. The GIS Manager will design, develop, and maintain our regional database and map applications, supporting numerous business units and regional projects, primarily in Oregon and Washington.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Skills:
  • Journey level expertise in GIS theory and core methods

  • Journey level expertise in ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop, Pro, Online, Enterprise

  • Strong technical capabilities in multiple GIS areas such as spatial analysis, network analysis, data acquisition and management, display/visualization, spatial statistics, remote sensing, and raster analysis

  • Experience using GIS for natural resource, facilities, and asset management

  • Experience with and interest in keeping up with advancing and emerging technologies, e.g., object detection, machine learning, lidar, multispectral imagery, Unoccupied Aerial Systems (UAS)/drones, GPS surveying, etc.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills—ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical clients


  • Preferred Skills:
  • Training and experience in land use planning

  • Familiarity with Smartsheet project management platform
