Job Description

The role of the Plant Manager is to oversee all operational aspects of the Dairy Manufacturing Plant by running the day-to-day operations, addressing, and resolving any issues that arise.


Responsibilities

• The Plant Manager will be responsible for establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

• Manage plant performance metrics to lead improvements in safety, quality, cost reduction, productivity and on-time delivery.

• Work with the support functions to streamline business processes and ensure all functions are in sync by implementing SOP's, communicating, and ensuring consistent execution of the SOP's.

Monitor processes and procedures to meet all production deadlines.

• Maintain accurate and complete production records and charts.

• Responsible for scheduling and maintaining an accurate and efficient inventory system.

• Must understand proper sanitation, including operational knowledge of Clean in Place (CIP) chemicals and equipment.

• Play an active role to inspect, review, and follow up on all plant and department audits.

• Emphasize, train, and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

• Promptly work with human resources on employee situations by addressing employee concerns in a timely manner and immediately follow up on these situations professionally and confidentially.

•Monitor plant conditions and maintain and safe working environment.

• Make cheese or queso fresco, Mexican cream, quesadilla, Oaxaca, and cotija.


Skills

• Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills and provide effective leadership in a production environment, while functioning in an active and demanding work environment.

• The ability to use critical thinking to problem solve and having strong written and verbal communications skills, along with a positive attitude, are great qualities to have in this position

Education / Requirements

Minimum Position Qualifications:

·Proven highly effective management skills

·Thorough knowledge of plant operations and procedures

·Strong strategic thinking, critical thinking, and analytical ability

·Strong verbal and written communication skills

·Must be USDA certified

·Experience in leading a cheese production facility

·Prior experience in manufacturing

·Prior management experience is preferred Bachelors or Associates Degree in a related field (Business Management)

·5 years of experience leading a cheese production facility knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs

·Cheese Manufacture/

Desired Previous Job Experience:

·8+ years of Food Manufacturing/Processing or equivalent experience

·3+ years of Fluid Dairy Manufacturing Leadership experience

·Management experience in a union environment

·Proficient in English and Spanish

Technical knowledge of fluid milk, cheese, and drying operations
