Job Description
Project Geologist - Indonesia

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a vital position for Ormat Indonesia’s growth and our global team. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team over the globe. Key responsibilities will include prospect evaluations and assessment of both green and brown geothermal fields list, generating prospect favorable catalog, supporting drilling activities together with other stakeholders, and supervising the joint venture project and existing Ormat’s projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Generates new prospect recommendations and portfolio
  • Prospect evaluation based on geology, geochemistry, and geophysical data both from legacy and sampling campaign
  • Builds project GIS and 3D geologic models and analyzes data to improve geologic understanding and play concepts. Work with multi-disciplinary team on the overall concept.
  • Well targeting and strategy evaluation for exploration and/or development drilling
  • Effectively communicate results and recommendations to peers and management verbally and in writing. Verbal communication may be presentations, group meetings, or individually
  • Exploration sampling and mapping for both geology and geochemistry on the field for data acquisition
  • Proactively make recommendations for reservoir management and wellfield operations based on data analysis and conceptual models
  • Data evaluation from the existing drilling information, including temperature, pressure, flow tests, lithology, drilling parameters, etc.
  • Assesses new sites for acquisition and communicates recommendations to manager and management
  • Collects fluid samples for analysis, oversees well logging operations, and assists engineers with flow tests

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned
  • Must have the ability to travel to other locations, including international and developing countries
  • Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier
  • Must have the ability to travel long distances by car and air
  • Maintain inventories of exploration materials and equipment

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and use of the Internet
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as GIS, ENVI, Global Mapper, Leapfrog, and Surfer is required
  • Having min. 3 years of experience as Geologist followed with having experience in the Geothermal industry is preferred
  • Demonstration of independent work yet able to work as a team and excellent technical communication
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, a master’s degree is preferred
  • Works under general supervision of Resource Manager and Chief Geologist
  • Must have field mapping experience, structural/alteration background experience, and geophysical or geochemical training
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • The ability to navigate and work in remote field locations and work outdoors in difficult weather conditions
  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert
  • The ability to walk, hike, and work on steep, rough terrain for extended periods of time
  • The ability to travel approximately 50% of time
  • The ability to periodically lift 50 lbs.
  • The ability to work in an office environment
  • The ability to safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways and off-road
