General Utility Worker Jobs

Salary Grade NC01 Salary Range $31,200 - $45,622 The position is responsible for general grounds type services as assigned by supervisor as well as the daily mail delivery between FMMU, Depot, Central Inventory and Raleigh based NCDOT offices. Assignments include but are not limited to grass cutting, weed eating, mulching, and hedge trimming. Daily mail and package delivery to NCDOT offices within the Raleigh area. These offices include but are not limited to Equipment Depot 5105 Beryl rd., 4809 Beryl Rd. facility and Transportation Building. The position is exposed to heat, cold and dust. The position requires physical effort as found in general land scaping maintenance; other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

• Knowledge of general ground maintenance services.
• Experience using small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, post hole diggers, hammer, screwdriver, torch, etc.
• Working experience moving relatively heavy objects and working at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time.
• Experience operating power tools such as lawn mowers, hand trimmers, air compressors, chainsaw, weed eater, skill saw, drill, etc. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience."
