We are looking for an experienced operations professional to join our team as a General Superintendent. The ideal candidate will bring positive energy and enthusiasm to our team as we continue making Commerce a leader in the Wichita market. Your primary responsibilities and experience requirements are listed below:
Primary duties include, but not limited to:
Above all, maintain a professional and positive attitude when dealing with an owner, architect, subcontractor or supplier, as well as each project superintendent resolving conflicts in a professional and respectful manner
Know, understand, and enforce all OSHA and company safety requirements including, but not limited to:
- Document overall compliance and review with each project superintendent regularly
- Manage safety training program to ensure all employees are current on required classes
- Leading and coordinating sequence of events in case of an accident or inspection
- Monitor subcontractors and staff on site to ensure full and complete safety adherence
Study project plans to have general detailed knowledge of each project, as well as unique elements of each project, to assist superintendents and ensure they have full and complete understanding of their project by:
- Coordinating and identifying all potential risks at each job site with project superintendent
- Maintaining an organized field log on general activities, personnel, and project staffing
- Attentive awareness on all key project deliveries and all additional job by job project needs as necessary
Monitor and plan equipment needs for each job to ensure necessary equipment is delivered on time and moved when no longer needed including, but not limited to:
- When necessary, assisting in equipment leases, purchases, or rentals
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately
- Identify optimum options and assess the long-term needs for all equipment
Coordinate lines of communication as liaison between office and field workers by:
- Assist in the hiring process for all field personnel and help identify areas for growth
- Assist project superintendents with upcoming three-week schedules to coordinate and plan staff projections for efficient overall job flow
- Maintain close contact with the project manager and problem subcontractors to be sure schedules will be held and that coordination on each project is happening
- Be a steward of the company; make good decisions and create opportunities for growth
- Attend weekly office meetings to discuss job progress, issues, schedules, and concerns
Lead and promote positive attitudes and professional workmanship including, but not limited to:
- Train and help develop field personnel to better their knowledge and skills
- “Right crew/right job” crew management
- Enforce and maintain consistent discipline
- Lead and utilize the runner as best as possible
- Elevate teamwork to a high-level boosting morale as efficiently as possible
Qualifications:
- 10+ years as a commercial superintendent with out of ground/interior experience
- Excellent background in understanding man-power utilization
- OSHA Training proficiency, including CPR/First Aid certifications
