Job Description
Job Summary


A general laborer will load/unload grain, feed, seed, chemical, and retail store merchandise while providing excellent customer service. This position will include working in all weather conditions indoors and outdoors, working at heights, entering confined spaces, working with and loading railcars, manually carrying up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift, and operating equipment such as a forklift, skid steer, manual pallet jack, and handcart.

Essential Functions


  • Using a skid steer or forklift to load and unload inventory from trucks, flatbeds, and van trailers
  • Dependable and reliable work attendance
  • Weighing trucks and loading rail cars
  • Effectively operate as part of a team
  • Rotate stock and perform regular inventory counts
  • Working at heights in manlift and on top of rail cars
  • Cleaning and maintenance of grain elevator and other equipment


Job Requirements And Qualifications


  • Ability to work overtime as required, including some weekends
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally
  • Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical
  • Bobcat and forklift experience helpful but not required
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping at the location
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment as directed by company policies


Physical Requirements


  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance
  • Frequent exposure to noise and dust
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment
  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required
