Reports To: General Superintendent / Superintendent/ Foreman Position: Full time - Seasonal Project: Moose Creek Dam - North Pole, AK Job Summary: The General Laborer performs a wide range of various manual tasks such as housekeeping, equipment cleaning, handling hoses, unloading materials, and preparing job sites. They use hand and power tools to help perform these functions and assist other crews with other necessary tasks. Must be skilled at following instructions from the project supervision to help prepare and maintain the job site. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Responsibilities of this Position: Follow all Bauer safety rules and procedures including use of PPE (personal protective equipment) appropriate for the job at hand Have the physical strength to perform heavy labor duties to support various project related construction activities. Maintain stamina to perform physical activity, including heavy labor duties; ability to stand or walk for a long period of time, traverse rough terrain and construction sites, work in or over water/wastewater, work at heights or in confined spaces, climb and bend. Works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and noise. Maintain a clean job site, pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards. Must have ability to hear alarms and have the ability to audibly identify the presence of a danger or hazard. Cooperate and work as a productive and helpful team member Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Ability to properly use tools and equipment Act as a trainee, if designated, to operate heavy equipment (backhoe, excavator, skid steer, etc.) Function as a fire watch during hot work operations Ability to work independently and as a team Perform other job duties as assigned Valid drivers license OSHA 10-hour certification a plus Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and/or carry items weighing up to forty (40) pounds Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather Must be able to stand and walk up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions and noise levels May be required to work 12-hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May on occasion, work up to 16 hours in a single shift Ability to perform repetitive motion from operating hand and foot controls of the equipment. Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required of DOT medical certification Able to mount and dismount equipment and maintain balance Must be able to hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, as well as hear creaks, pings, and any other anomalies in equipment prior to, during or, after any lift or positioning of material/load. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required Ability to work independently and on a team Compensation and benefits Competitive salary; exact compensation commensurate with experience.
