OPPORTUNITY: We are a paper manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our West Monroe, LA operation. We offer outstanding opportunities for our employees to advance their careers through on the job training and job progression.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is an entry level operator and is responsible for assisting operators, making equipment adjustments, cleaning the equipment/ facility, and performing other designated tasks in a safe and efficient manner in accordance to the standard operating procedures (SOP).
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
- Appropriately handles issues with equipment or paper when situation arises.
- Operate mobile equipment in support of cleanup efforts in the various areas of the Mill.
- Operates Forklift to retrieve supplies and removes paper debris from floor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other associates.
- Monitor and make adjustment to the equipment, including visual checks for crossed ropes, machine jams, and other equipment malfunctions.
- Read and understand technical drawings, and technical service or repair manuals.
- Retrieves and distributes supplies from Stores for crew.
- Assists crew during paper breaks in threading the paper and clean up debris per the standard operating procedure.
- Daily housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Monitor the quality of assembly output.
- Maintains all documentation of daily and monthly rounds in accordance with the current standard operating procedures and documents contained in the employee training manual.

- Good communication skills. Verbal communication is vital in performing his/her job functions safely.
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices and strong problem solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.
- Excellent attendance record with flexibility to work rotating shifts & overtime.
- Basic mechanical ability to make adjustment to the equipment to maximize production and ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
- Schedules are up to 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, holidays and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
Required Experience
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to read and write is required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Computer literacy: MS Office, PLC and DCS experience
- 2 years of heavy industrial machine operator, military, or mechanical experience.
