SUMMARY
Location: Sun Outdoors Paso Robles on Golden Hill
Position Type: Non-Management
The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing all food items while also cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas.
This position may require flexible scheduling availability.
Job Requirements:
- Maintain cooking areas and ensure kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by the Health Department Rules and Regulations
- Perform shift opening/closing duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager, including starting equipment and cleaning of refrigeration units, grill and surrounding area, as well as other kitchen equipment
- Restock products as needed throughout the shift
- Collaborate with Restaurant Manager to determine daily specials, new menu items, and innovative ways to cook and prepare food
- Prepare food ordered by restaurant customers using a variety of kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.)
- Report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the Restaurant Manager
- Regularly check the menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the Restaurant Manager of any shortages
Job Qualifications:
- Food Handling Certification is required
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of restaurant food preparation and presentation
- 6 months of previous restaurant cook experience is desired

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
