POSITION SUMMARY: Provide supervision over the health, welfare, and safety of inmates, staff and public within a secured jail facility with a 56 bed capacity. Position also ensures compliance with department policy and Department of Correction\'s standards for a county correctional facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Respond to medical emergencies within the facility. Must be knowledgeable in all county and jail policies and procedures, and operations. Must be proficient in the use of the jail and State computer. Maintain safety and security in the jail. Must search inmates, property brought in, and the entire jail facility. Have to be able to keep accurate logs, and updated files. Verify, administer, and log medications. Conduct daily indiscriminate strip searches of work release inmates upon return from work. Monitor volunteers that come in to provide activities for the inmates. See to the daily needs of the inmates. Can be a bailiff for court at times, and make occasional transports. Receive training in federal, state and local laws as they apply in law enforcement and detention facilities, including federal and state correction standards. Miscellaneous duties assigned by department heads. Entry hourly wage range: \$23.60 to \$26.46 DOQ. Full earning potential of \$33.26/hour dependent on qualifications and experience.
