Front End Engineer Jobs

Amazon Devices is building products to enable new forms of ambient computing, and we are looking for skilled and passionate engineers to join our world-class, growing team.

As a software engineer, you will will be conceiving and developing key software and architecture for a new-to-world smart-home product. You will be responsible for developing code for early prototypes through mass production. This work cuts across many aspects of device functionality, from middleware to the application layer. Fluency in JavaScript (Typescript preferred), React, and CSS will be necessary for this role.

This is a greenfield development effort, where you will need to define architecture, drive best engineering practices, and produce clean, re-usable code. You must be prepared to deal with ambiguity and be ready to learn as you go. You will have the opportunity to influence product decisions and direction that will impact millions of customers.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop and deploy production code for a new smart-home product
• Collaborate with product and design teams to influence, refine, and implement requirements
• Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility
• Improve engineering processes and tools to increase team effectiveness
• Work in an Agile environment to deliver and iterate on results

About The Team

Our Devices team specializes in inventing new-to-world, category creating products using advanced machine learning technologies. This role is on a new cross-functional team, whose cadence and structure resembles an efficient and fast-paced startup, with rapid growth and development opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience
• Experience developing new and existing web applications independently and with other developers
• Experience in new and experimental web technologies, e.g. ES2023, postCSS, web workers, etc
• Experience with object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in new and experimental web technologies, e.g. ES2023, postCSS, web workers, etc
• Experience developing web-based technologies on embedded or resource-constrained hardware
• Experience developing reusable components for a shared framework

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
