Freelance Production Assistant - The Home Edit

The Home Edit is seeking a motivated and organized Freelance Production Assistant to join our creative team for a three month contract. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for photography, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role involves working closely with photographers, talent, stylists, and other team members to ensure the smooth execution of photo shoots, creative briefs, mood boards, and other creative outputs.

Responsibilities:

• Manage props, wardrobe and set changes during the shoot, ensuring items are readily available and organized
• Monitor shoot progress, track shot lists, and ensure that all necessary shots are captured
• Address any unexpected issues that arise during the shoot, working to find creative solutions in real-time
• Assist photographers with tasks such as adjusting lighting and other technical elements
• Assist with post-shoot tasks, such as equipment breakdown, packing, and returning borrowed or purchased items
• Maintain a positive and collaborative atmosphere on set, ensuring everyone is comfortable and informed
• Coordinate with talent assistants, talent, stylists, and other crew members to ensure their timely arrival and preparedness for the shoot
• Assist the production team in pre-shoot planning, including organizing schedules, equipment, props, and locations
• Handle equipment and assist with camera gear setup, ensuring everything is in working order
• Set up and maintain the shoot environment, including arranging lighting, backdrops, and props as required
• Manage model or talent releases, ensuring all necessary permissions are obtained
• Assist with basic post-production tasks, such as sorting and organizing digital files, gaining necessary approvals, liaising with post-production

Requirements

• Knowledge of photography software and basic post-production processes is a plus
• Flexibility in scheduling, as photo shoots may require irregular hours and weekend work
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move equipment as needed
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Familiarity with photography equipment, lighting setups, and basic camera operations
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members
• A proactive and problem-solving mindset
• Previous experience as a production assistant, preferably in a photography or creative environment
• Ability to travel, when necessary, for creative productions
