Job Description

Duties

Fastens, glues, and sands wood in preparation for constructing picture frames. Cuts glass to meet picture specifications. Repairs broken frames. Monitors inventory and requests supplies as needed. Maintains computer records and logs of frames issued, repaired and delivered. Prepares matting, including double matting, for special cuts, including newspaper articles. Receives and processes all orders for frames; establishes work priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

Work requires a high school diploma (or GED), and three years of experience in frame construction or assembly; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Skill in using glass cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of professional techniques and practices used in framing pictures.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Skill in assembling, matting and framing pictures.
  • Ability to operate woodworking equipment and machinery.

Physical Demands and Working Environment Work

Requires the ability to stand for extended periods, stoop, bend, crouch, and safely lift up to 50 pounds. Work includes exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and chemicals, and requires the safe use of woodworking and framing equipment.
