Job Description

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: The Grant Writer’s responsibilities will include researching grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals and cases for support, and working with hospital teams to ensure we attain available funding.


PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

JOB FUNCTIONS


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:


1. Work as a positive, professional member of a collaborative team of administrative and fundraising professionals

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Always uphold and demonstrate our organizational vision, mission, and values with both hospital colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ensures that goals and objectives associated with fundraising are consistent with the GHS’s philosophy.

2. Oversee, organize and grow the Foundation’s grant writing efforts, raising $300,000+ annually.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Create grants plan and calendar – including reporting
  • Research local, state and federal funding opportunities and prepare and submit grants/proposals and letters of intent/inquiry to fund key hospital and foundation initiatives
  • Write informative and inspiring cases for support highlighting programs and initiatives in need of donor support
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with appropriate funders to help ensure continued annual support

3. Work closely with the Foundation president, hospital specialties and departments to learn additional opportunities to fund key capital, programmatic and infrastructure projects.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Promote the Foundation’s presence through positive community and hospital visibility on an ongoing basis.
  • Attending events held during evening and weekend hours.

4. Performs other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two years professional grant writing related professional writing or communications experience preferred.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing, or a related area required.


SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Strong research, writing, communications, organizational and time management skills.

Strong command of the English language

Highly efficient at problem solving, relationship building, collaboration and creative thinking.

Ability to translate complex information into compelling language for potential funders.

Skilled in AP styled writing highly preferred.


HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records w/o limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, information related to patient location, religious beliefs and/or public health records.


SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, administers/receives/collects meds/blood order or products, validates, transports, monitors or observes patients for procedures including infusion pumps, monitors clinical alarms for all ages.
