Job Description
The Food Service Systems ("FSS") Manager will play an integral role in supporting Dining's food service management systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the system's data integrity, availability and accuracy of information to facilitate its efficient use and success within multiple teams.
This position is responsible for overseeing the updating, collecting, organizing, and maintaining all elements of FSS data including menu ingredients, recipes, units of measure, naming, ordering, waste reporting, and inventory recording among other pieces of critical information. Additionally, will provide oversight for the technology platforms utilized by our dining team including digital menu signage, point of sale systems, time clocks, training platforms, and others.
The FSS Manager will support the Director of Culinary Innovation to ensure all menus and recipes are input accurately and ensure that both the supporting functionality of the system for the end user is accurate and that the database is properly maintained at all times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operations (80%)
Must possess excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity while managing multiple priorities and changing demands in a complex system.
Be able to leverage technologies, including enhancements to FSS, and will look for opportunities to maximize efficiencies including being flexible and receptive to new ideas and/or approaches.
Manage and support the Food Service Systems Coordinator, providing guidance and direction for this strategic role.
Provide direction and leadership to two (2) full-time direct reports: Food Service Systems Coordinator and Assistant Manager, Food Service Systems.
Coordination of tech support for location managers and marketing; troubleshooting solution-based outcomes.
Provide exceptional customer service as well as demonstrate effective and positive communication to ensure everyday collaboration with a broad range of system users and many key partners to resolve any data issues.
Remain current with pertinent coding standards including HACCP, local, state, and Federal Food Safety standards, Kosher certifications, Halal requirements and Dining specific standards.
Ensure team members have the tools necessary to complete their jobs.
Ensure show quality standards are maintained at all times.
Support and communicate University initiatives.
Controls (20%)
Ensure that all security, safety and sanitation standards are achieved.
Employ good safety and sanitation practices.
Maintain all elements of FSS data including menu ingredients, recipes, units of measure, naming, ordering, waste reporting, and inventory recording.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or Culinary Degree Equivalent.
Strong background with a working knowledge of a Food Service System, preferably the CBORD NetMenu Application.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Preferred.
Experience in recipe testing procedures with knowledge and understanding of recipes yields, handling and evaporative loss, production scaling and rounding methods, prep-cost and nutrient yields, etc.
Prior food service experience in academic setting and/or experience using automated food management systems, Food Service Suite, JHU Dining's Food Management Software or other Food Management software is helpful.
