Food Service Cashier (Upmc Shadyside)

Purpose:
This position is responsible for accurately registering all sales of retail customers while maintaining security of all monies in and around the cash registers through the work shift. This position will require rotating shifts, open availability will be required.
Responsibilities:

• Sets up cashier's station at beginning of shift and maintains funds appropriately throughout shift
• Collects money from cash customers and returns change accurately in accordance with established cash handling procedures
• Consistently adhere to MSDS information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace. Maintain and store chemicals and cleaning supplies away from food prep areas.
• Complete sanitation of large equipment in the department utilizing cleaning chemicals and procedures.
• Collect and remove trash from all areas of the department following established procedures. Adhere to recycling guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
• Records miscellaneous non-monetary purchases accurately
• Ensures food products are charged accurately by consistently checking the portion sizes and verify contents according to department procedure. Notifies supervisor/manager of any portion discrepancies immediately
• Maintain inspection-readiness in the department at all times. Adhere to HACCP procedures while completing all sanitation duties.
• Use and maintain all equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines; follow proper safety procedures.
• Monitor and record refrigerator/freezer temperatures on proper form according to department guidelines. Alert supervisor immediately of any temperature variations.
• Maintains work areas in clean and orderly condition according to HACCP guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and related service ware following established procedures.
• Deliver food carts to the appropriate base unit in a timely manner; ensure pod is starting for the next meal service.

• Must possess ability to accurately count and perform basic mathematical functions.
• Great customer service skills.
