Job Description

Food Safety Quality Manager - Greater Topeka Area


Reports to: Plant Manager


:

  • Drive strategic continuous improvement efforts related to food safety and quality risks
  • Lead capital pipeline planning and budget setting efforts for food safety and quality of the facility
  • Directly coach and grow four Food Safety and Quality team members (Assistant FSQ Coordinator who coaches 3 FSQ Techs)
  • Educate team members on food safety and quality applications and systems
  • Develop future leaders as a pipeline for future food safety and quality roles and/or operational leadership positions
  • Set metrics of success and identify trends and process variations in conjunction with the team
  • Drive governmental, customer, and internal process compliances and improvements in Food Safety and Product Quality
  • Be a resource to all plants for corrective actions to optimize safety and quality of products
  • Participate and/or lead network-wide improvement teams
  • Responsible for the performance of 3rd party sanitation contractor through the direct team
  • Develop Utilize auditing skills to assist on supplier, copacker, and internal audits to minimize risks
  • Keep facility updated and in compliance with regulatory policies
  • Provide support for all third-party audits


Qualifications:

  • BS/BA – Food Science, Microbiology or related field required
  • Experience working in SAP Business Operating System preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in a quality leadership role including project management and team leadership
  • Experience in food production required
  • Knowledge/experience of continuous improvement processes (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
  • Proficient with data management and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Experience with fresh product shelf life and microbiology
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP systems, USDA/FDA regulatory compliance
