Purpose
Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining products within Housing and Dining.
Responsibilities
  • Collect and document production records before, during, and after service. Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and coworkers. Seek direction at beginning of the shift and keep open communication with management and staff throughout the shift.
  • Greet and interact with customers in a professional and upbeat manner. Serve a high-quality product during open dining hours. Products may include performing short order or made to order cooking, while providing excellent customer service. Ability to read, follow, and understand recipes.
  • Break down and clean all serving areas and equipment, and properly store, label, and date leftover food items from the serving/dining area. Take and record temperatures and ensure cleaning and detail cleaning tasks are completed throughout the shift.
  • Set up, stock, clean, and replenish the serving area during your shift in compliance with location and food safety guidelines. Monitor, stock, and rotate inventory items. Inventory of items in dry storage area, cooler/freezer, and/or beverage stations.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe.
  • Experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.
  • Six months or more experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.
  • Customer service experience in a high-volume food service operation.

Salary Range
$18.00 hourly + depending on qualifications

Workdays, area, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the unit.
