Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide documentation on all applicable certifications
  • Work with drivers to enable them to operate specialized equipment properly.
  • Hiring of all technicians.
  • Update all specifications when equipment changes are necessary.
  • Provide daily OOS report
  • Produce weekly, period, and yearly reports.
  • Fleet Manager oversees all aspects of fleet maintenance function while establishing and maintaining a safe work environment and working conditions for employees.
  • Recover warranty dollars
  • Develops the yearly budget for fleet maintenance and manages expenses to achieve budget goals. Prepares capital improvement request list for equipment repair/replacements.
  • Ensure that all parts and supplies are charged out to the proper repair order.
  • File warranty claims, warranty logs
  • Perform all maintenance functions on all company owned equipment.
  • Timely evaluations of all employees
  • Schedule all schooling and certification courses for all maintenance personnel.
  • Comply with all OSHA, DOT, and Tax commission regulations
  • Ensure conformance with vehicle manufacture's service recommendations and bulletins.
  • Provides assistance as needed when troubles develop on the road - finds qualified service to repair downed vehicle, obtains competitive bids for repairs, body work, etc.
  • Ensure proper working conditions and shop and vehicle safety practices are followed
  • Ensure vehicles are in proper working condition.
  • Purchase fuel; manage Fuel Island and related monthly reports.
  • Purchases of shop equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain parts department, inventory levels to company standards.

Qualifications:

Education/Training : High school diploma or equivalent required.

Related Experience/Requirements:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions in English.
  • Good attendance and punctuality a must
  • Thermo King, Major certification, State Inspections License preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years fleet and material handling equipment experience required.
  • Class A or B commercial driver license preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain co-worker relationships.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, Hazmat and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literate with strong PC skills. (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and organizational skills with focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
