Flagger Jobs

Loudoun County Government's Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Flagger/Load Spotter vacancy at the Solid Waste Management Facility. This is a full-time position that is tasked with traffic control in disposal areas at the Landfill.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Uses two-way radio to communicate with equipment operators.
• Perform waste screening and litter control.
• Wears uniform and safety vest at all times.
• Give vehicular back-up assistance to customers.
• Position flags, queue customers in line, and direct them where and when to dump waste.
• Ensure waste is disposed in correct areas.
• Watch for traffic hazards.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in basic grounds maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience in a solid waste, public works, construction, or related environment.
• One (1) year relevant experience working with the public.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

A valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Work schedule is Monday-Friday. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. Willing and able to work all day outdoors traversing rough and/or slippery grade during all weather conditions in an inherently dangerous work environment amongst heavy equipment and vehicular traffic.
