DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Fitter and Welder team is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Fitter.

Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our ATR facility with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate shop equipment and test jigs, piping and tubing. Install, repair, and maintain both basic hand and power tools.
  • Perform piping and piping component installation, forming, connection, support, and modification activities on various materials.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and maintain valves, piping and tubing, and their components.
  • Fabricate gaskets. Sterilize piping.
  • Perform journeyman maintenance/installation of piping, plumbing and tubing systems, and components.
  • Perform work on or with high pressure systems, hazardous materials and waste using appropriate safety precautions, controls, and procedures. Obtain and use appropriate environmental, safety, and health documentation.
  • Repair and maintain fire systems flapper, hydrants, fire protection fluid systems, heat exchangers, and air dryers. Connect and disconnect pumps.
  • Maintain current fitter qualifications. Locate and requisition spare parts from the warehouse.
  • Clean strainers and heat exchangers.
  • Repair and replace hazardous chemical/substance lines.
  • Locate and use drawings, blueprints, schematics, & system prints.
  • Install gauges, valves, and instrumentation. Troubleshoot and repair leaks and hydro test piping. Replace rupture discs. Layout various joints and connections for welding. Conduct plastic welding. Clean and replace sight glasses.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED plus 5 years applicable experience, or recognized trade apprenticeship plus 2 years applicable experience, or 2 years Vocational Training plus 3 years applicable experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Salary: $43.21/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
