Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Fire Mitigation Coordinator trains others on wildland fire prevention techniques.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
  • Verify and document evidence of compliance and non-compliance. Create trend reports on issued audits.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative fire risk assessments, prepare reports/documents, and communicate internal results to management.
  • Develop a wildland fire prevention strategy based on observed and documented fire causes.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Develop, document, and present training on wildland fire prevention and suppression
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Execute elements of the periodic wildland fire and audit plans.
  • Assist in monitoring outstanding findings and progress of management agreed to action plans.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and serve as a resource related to wildland fire hazards.
  • Identify potential threats and vulnerabilities observed during the audit.
  • Plan and conduct audits in accordance with the internal audit program, company policies, approved work methods, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide supportive feedback on findings of audited crews to management within assigned regions.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and satisfy company driving policies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in forestry, natural resources, or similar field, highly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three+ years’ experience in a Safety related position identifying and updating Safety related documentation in the Utility Line Clearance or Vegetation Management Industry or the Natural Resource Management sector.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating system
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service focusing on rapport-building, listening, questioning and patience. Communicates effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.
  • Knowledge of current concepts of wildland fire protection and preparedness.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience as a Wildland Firefighter, preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, EPA, and DOT with the ability to interpret standards.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors.
  • Safety-related certification ASP, OSHA, CTSP, or others are preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical activities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position requires frequent standing or walking. The position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force and/or an amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The functions of this position are conducted in a variety of climates and outdoor environments.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find a resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with employees which may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
