Job Description
Position Summary:


The Controller will lead a team of professionals responsible for financial accounting for Duke Corporate Education and its subsidiaries. This will involve leveraging an ERP system, developing and implementing improvements in systems, procedures, and controls to improve efficiencies and to safeguard the company’s assets. This position oversees the general accounting function and is responsible for the company’s financial reporting, modelling and forecasting processes. This position is highly interdependent with the Director of Regional Finance, and the Director of International Regulatory Compliance to achieve the financial goals and requirements of the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the operations of the corporate accounting function covering legal entities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and South Africa
  • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day corporate accounting activities to include: accounts payable, cash, payroll funding, expense reimbursements, fixed asset records
  • Develop financial models and analyze to support strategic initiatives
  • Identify and lead profitability-enhancing initiatives, leveraging financial reporting and data analytic capabilities; regularly review and evaluate findings and make appropriate proactive and actionable recommendations to control costs and grow revenue
  • Provides status reports that detail the organization’s financial condition by analyzing and communicating key financial data.
  • Responsible for global cash management to include: fund transfers across accounts and jurisdictions, maintaining and balancing accounts and general cash oversight.
  • Performs other job related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Implement business intelligence tools within the firm’s ERP eco-system as necessary
  • Leads and develops a team of finance professionals
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend organizational, operational, technological improvements in policies, procedures, organization and infrastructure
  • Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Strategic Modeling
  • Manage the collection, analysis, and translation of financial and operational data into usable, actionable metrics, key performance indicators, analytics, reports, dashboards, and advice
  • Assists the CFO in designing, developing and implementing policies and procedures required to meet the financial and regulatory reporting requirements of the organization.

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a global finance function of a multi-location, multi-national corporation, or the equivalent exposure in a public accounting firm is required
  • CPA required
  • Experience working with international tax, income, VAT and treasury
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Financial or Public Accounting
  • Proven experience successfully managing a team
  • Background in international professional services firm preferred
  • Bachelors required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
