Position Summary


This position is located at BorgWarner’s World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.


The Financial Analyst I will report to the Manager, Reporting and Accounting and be responsible for certain reporting and project activities associated with leases, revenue recognition, corporate reporting, accounting policies and other ad hoc transactions.


Key Accountabilities


  • Support accounting policy refresh project, including reformatting documents for consistency and numbering, validating inter-policy references, validating chart of account references, etc.
  • Review and investigate unusual changes in revenue and government grant accounts during quarter-end close
  • Route and track accounting policy deviation request submissions
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests for related technical areas
  • Prepare and analyze ad hoc financial data for related technical areas and assist with preparation of cash flow statement supporting schedules
  • Prepare 10-K/10-Q footnote disclosure workpapers (e.g., leases, revenue, PP&E)
  • Primary administrator of the lease accounting software (Visual Lease), adding / editing leases in the system, performing reconciliations to HFM (management’s reporting system), documenting monthly control activities, ensuring lease documentation is uploaded to Visual Lease, and supporting various lease requests from global locations (i.e., manage lease email inbox).
  • Organize quarterly control inquiries for the existence of changes in significant leases or customer terms & conditions
  • Support MA&D projects for revenue, leases and accounting policies


Minimum Education/Experience


  • 0-3 years’ experience in accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting


Preferred Education/Experience


  • Highly driven, self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • HFM or OneStream experience preferred
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proficiency in MSOffice, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • CPA preferred
