Job Description

Title: Financial Analyst 1 (Client Financial Analyst Associate)

Duration: 6 months (Contract to hire)

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8-5 eastern standard time

Location: Remote, must be located in any one of these states ( Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.)


Job Profile Summary

Responsible for financial claims expense invoicing, reporting, analysis, determining reimbursement and forecasting including the preparation of financial claims expense weekly invoicing and statements through the month end closing, delivering reporting and trends as well as research as needed regarding administrative services and stop loss coverage. Research and analysis could include root cause analysis, resolution of inquiries and/or activities which may include claims, plan policies, products, rates, membership, enrollment, underwriting, direct sales, contract and/or program engagement.


• Assist in the development, analysis, interpretation, invoicing, reporting, and/or presentation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual historical/ and or forecasted financial claims expense and/or stop loss coverage information.

o Support preparation of invoicing and financial claims expense forecasts

o Support preparation of financials for loss coverage for employer groups or stop loss vendors based on actual high dollar claims and/or claimants’ performance, previous stop loss credits, estimated claims expense trend, expense reports and other factors.

o Support the review of expenditures of employer groups’ subgroups to ensure conformance to Administrative Agreement.

• Support the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and/or analysis for various audiences such as Self-Funded Groups (Employer), Stop Loss Vendors, Sales, Underwriting, etc. Ensure the reports are accurate. Support the monthly variance analysis (at employer group level or consolidated company level). Provide ongoing support to Self-Funded business line and assist in any questions that may arise.

• Assist in the administration and analysis for new products, programs and corporate projects.

• Support the preparation of various ad-hoc data requests, analysis, reports and special projects as needed.

• Verification and identification of manual transaction fees/ contractual adjustments

• Preparation of any estimates and adjustments that may be needed for new or existing business.

• Prepare Statement of account reconciliations, assist with the monthly run out and final close out activities, prepare schedules, etc.

• Support projects to improve processes/controls, partner with project teams to ensure resolution of project/post-project issues and participate on cross-functional projects as a finance representative.

• Assist with compilation of data for internal/external audit

• Prepare ad-hoc requests for information as requested. Maintain and enhance internal controls and perform self-testing.

• Identify and document recurring and/or escalated or system and process problems and assist with resolving these issues.

• Serve as a Point of contact for Self-Funded inquiries around work process, procedures, products, and policies and/or provide first level escalation and research support as needed.

• Identify problems, gaps or inconsistencies in workflows, inquiries and/or processes for quality assurance purposes; recommend updates, alternatives and/or solutions.

• Process a variety of client transactions that may include suspend and/or hold of claims, Run out administrative fees, and/or employer group settlement.

• Determine benefit eligibility for stop loss coverage on claims for specific claimants based on contract terms. That includes a variety of stop loss vendor transactions that may include inquiries regarding utilization, provider information, medical reviews, Leave of absence language, COBRA benefits, and plan documentation.

Assist with quality reviews of operational inquiries to determine the accuracy of information provided and ensure employees are functioning at the expected level of service to enhance customer satisfaction.


Hiring Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, math, statistics or economics.

Without Bachelor’s, 3 years of experience in a financial analyst and/or reporting role, Finance or Business to include direct external client contact (1 year of experience in an operations role and/or in applicable functional area required)


Hiring Preferences

Healthcare Industry experience and/or Insurance Industry experience

Experience with Lawson, Workday, Business Objects and/or DashBoard Gear.

Excellent PC skills (e.g. MS Word, Excel)

Knowledge of Access Database, accounting research tools, Envision Lawson General Ledger, Mobius, Business Objects, MHS, AMISYS and/or SASFM

Effective written and oral communication skills

Familiarity with corporate policies and departmental procedures

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely decisions.

Ability to provide high quality customer service to both internal and external customers

Detail oriented, flexible, dependable and able to prioritize work and manage time effectively

Ability to work well independently and in teams

Ability to present ideas professionally and represent business unit or department in various workgroups as a subject matter expert.
