ABB is seeking multiple Field Service Engineers to safely deliver service work at various customer sites and ensure it complies with ABB and customers’ standards, procedures., and policies. This individual is the face of ABB’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging service business the trusted advisor on a customer’s equipment condition.
This position reports to
Service Manager
Your responsibilities
  • Partners with Third Party Service providers and internal remote technical support teams to effectively troubleshoot and resolve EV charger functionality.
  • Operates autonomously, responsible for booking travel with company travel tools, processing expenses in a timely manner, and other back-end office documentation as needed
  • Commission, configure, maintain, and repair complex electric vehicle charging equipment on a customer’s location
  • On site advocate for ABB EV Services; strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and identify opportunities to increase ABB’s service solutions to customers
  • Travel by car or plane to customer site; most travel will fall within a 300 mile radius of candidate’s home office location, primarily Monday-Friday working hours, with overnight stays Occasionally service calls may expand beyond this territory and require flexible working hours
  • Aids in development of standardized training documents and troubleshooting procedures and participates in fostering a knowledge share community within internal teams
  • Your background
    • Candidate must be able to travel 80% of the time. Most travel will be within the continental US, occasional travel internationally for training.
    • Candidate must be able to operate autonomously and demonstrate a history of this capability.
    • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent military experience and 5 years’ experience in a field service role OR High School Diploma with 7 years’ experience as in a field service role.
    • Will also consider candidates with Industrial Automation or other such complex electronics/electrical troubleshooting or maintenance experience.
    • Candidate must be detailed oriented, and willing to work within a fast-paced environment with constant change within his or her job responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of the EV charging industry is a plus.
    • Knowledge of LOTO procedures, familiarity with UPS, and prior safety training or certification is a plus.
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US – This position is not authorized for sponsorship.
