This Position


We are interested in hiring an experienced Field Safety Supervisor who wants a career, not just a job. Do you want to work for a company that recognizes your hard work and loyalty? The person in this position will be responsible for field safety leadership across an assigned area and support the Area Safety Manager (or other assigned department senior manager) in implementation and management of the HSE program.


Essential Functions


  • All other assigned responsibilities by the Area Safety Manager or other assigned department senior manager.
  • Embody and apply core values: safety, quality, integrity, discipline, service, family, partnership.
  • As assigned by Area Safety Manager, will make sure investigations, corrective actions, and safety planning are purposeful, complete, and supported.
  • Coordinate support efforts with Area Safety Manager.
  • Provide safety leadership and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Hold a high level of confidentiality.
  • Report daily safety experience and daily plan of day inaccuracies to Area Safety Manager.
  • Assist with training instruction and scheduling as directed by the Area Safety Manager.
  • Shall ensure timely notifications for serious events are made to Area Safety Manager.
  • Participate in safety audits across assigned area and coordinate corrective action feedback to the Area Safety Manager and operations management.
  • May assist with/lead special projects as assigned related to organization-wide related safety matters.
  • Complete a monthly expense report for the company Purchasing card. Shall spend within set departmental guidelines.
  • Review weekly Ops Reports for safety planning purposes with Area Safety Manager.
  • Assist with root cause identification, investigations, and case management within the assigned area, also including field audits, new hire orientation, and coaching.
  • Perform area and job site level audits based on event trending, lagging/leading indicators, and safety needs identified with Area Safety Manager or another department senior manager.
  • Coordinate injury management through Workman’s Compensation Manager and assist in establishing area injury management resources and relationship building as assigned by the Area Safety Manager or another department senior manager.
  • Coordinate, manage and respond to OSHA agency-level audits as directed by the Area Safety Manager or other departments senior managers.


Working Environment


  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, and effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Regularly works near moving traffic and machines and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be able for extended periods to perform any of the following: stand, walk, jog, climb, kneel, squat, bend at the waist, grasp, and hold various tools and objects with both hands.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands), and multi-limb coordination.
  • The noise level is generally loud.


WHAT DO YOU HAVE?


  • Multi-tasks with ease and handles changing priorities well.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • An accredited safety certification (preferred), i.e. CHST, OSHT, ASP, CSP, CIH, STS, etc.
  • An Associate’s Degree in a safety-related curriculum (or equivalent) or 4 Years of verifiable safety experience
  • A clear current state driver’s license.
  • Ability to maintain professional interaction, appearances, and communication within all levels of the organization.
  • You have OSHA 500 Trainer Certification or the ability to obtain it within 90-days of hire.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug tests, includes marijuana.
  • Ability to be on-call as assigned after hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed to support position and duties.
  • Traffic Control and/or Construction experience is highly desired.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all company incident files and all required documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • A “people-person” with the ability to speak in front of small and large audiences.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • A resourceful problem-solver, with a positive can-do attitude and provide excellent customer service.

  • Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat proficiency.
