Overview


Seeking experienced fiber technicians / fiber splicers to join our technically experienced fiber team. The Maine location is growing, and we are tireless in our efforts to continue to grow the most respected team in the Northeast. With offices throughout the country, Canada and the Philippines, the opportunity to grow with the company is real!


Waveguide, a subsidiary of Centerline, is a growing telecommunications contractor looking to add qualified, and technically knowledgeable technicians to our Fairfield Maine team. Will operate independently and with a team to work with customers on-site for ISP. OSP, aerial fiber builds. The experienced fiber splicer will operate as part of the most well-respected splice team in the Northeast!

Responsibilities
  • Excellent fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
  • A solid understanding of multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosure by various manufacturers.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Applicant must have mastered all facets of splice, termination and testing delivery. Applicant must demonstrate a superior ability to work with others and train more junior technicians.
  • Have undergone additional training or immersion into one or more specific customers’ needs and demonstrate responsibility for those needs
  • Applicant must demonstrate a thorough understanding of FasReporter software and packaging abilities.
  • Applicant must demonstrate advanced crew/project management abilities and responsibilities. Advanced responsibilities shall include ultimate “ownership” of project deadlines, deliverables, and safety requirements. An excellent understanding that leadership may include travel, off hours, weekends and or holiday work and a strong management presence will be a requirement.
  • Be able to demonstrate advanced cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a thorough understanding of and abilities to negotiate ARC/GIS, Telvent and Trimble softwares.
  • In addition to add requirements in Level I, Level II, Level III & Level IV:
  • Have a basic understanding of and abilities to negotiate ARC/GIS, Telvent and Trimble software
  • Ability to understand that to the nature of the job, travel, night, weekend, and holiday work, to include on-call responsibilities will be a requirement.
  • Applicant must demonstrate superior fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to work with others and train more junior technicians and basic crew/project management abilities and responsibilities


Qualifications


  • Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT Physical
  • Show up for work daily and on time
  • Must possess the ability to perceive difference in colors.
  • Applicant must be able to complete the entry level safety training and demonstrate safe practices within 90 days of starting
  • Overtime should be expected
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check, and Drug Screens
  • Travel a requirement; nights & weekends as well as on-call responsibility
  • Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
  • Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver’s license and pass random driver’s license screenings
  • Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification
  • Experienced with basic computer functions, especially Excel and the Internet and have the ability to learn new programs


Education


Applicant must be at least a high school graduate or equivalent.


Physical Requirements And Working Conditions


Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket. Environmental conditions: exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise. Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 80 lbs continuously. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
