Brief Description:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Farmer. Farmers perform general farm work including such activities as care of a dairy herd and may be in charge of a specific farm operation. They typically perform a variety of general or specific farm work tasks, which may vary according to season and weather conditions, in caring for and managing dairy cattle. This position will focus primarily milking the dairy cows and feeding the calves.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Non-Competitive: three years of farm experience, or one year of farm experience and completion of a high school agricultural course, or one year of agricultural education beyond the high school level.
Operational Need:
Ability to operate farm equipment (primarily skid loader, tractor, etc.)
Willing and able to work with computerized equipment
Ability to keep written records of farm activities
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and established protocols
Ability to work with students and assisting them in meeting their educational requirements
Working knowledge of modern dairy herd procedures, methods and techniques
Physically able to perform duties, including occasional heavy lifting, standing, walking and climbing
