The Aviation Department is looking for an intern to join their LaGuardia (LGA) Aviation Financial Services team.

About Aviation Financial Services, LGA:

Aviation Financial Services, LGA is responsible for directing and monitoring financial activities for the Aviation Department, as well as providing a range of financial services to Aviation, Comptroller's, and other PA staff. In this role, the intern will have the opportunity to work closely with different airport staff and will have an opportunity to learn Operations and Maintenance of the airport. .

Responsibilities:

• Assigned with writing up desk instructions for tasks performed by the Sr. Financial Analyst
• Prepare Unit Monthly Variance reports and investigate variances for discussion with senior staff.
• Assist the review of various leases and performing lease analysis as needed.
• Assist with the annual budget preparation and distribution of reports to each unit supervisor and senior staff.
• Assist in the preparation of Monthly Utility expense accruals and distributions to be posted into SAP system.
• Assist with the variance analysis for Monthly Overtime Performance
• Provide assistance to the Manager, LGA Finance and Sr. Financial Analyst LGA
• Run BudgetPro reports on an as needed basis.
• Assist with other Aviation facilities or Central Office on ad-hoc requests.
• Run various SAP reports and variance analyses on an as needed basis.
• Assist in the variance analysis of the Monthly Operating Statement (Operating Expenses and Revenues)

Qualifications:

• We are seeking interns who are driven and have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills
• We welcome applications from all types of majors
• Candidates must be students who will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program during the Fall 2023 semester (usually starting in August/September 2023)

Desired Skills:

• Experience with or desire to learn writing Excel formulas and creating pivot tables
• Interest in learning about the Aviation industry
• Experience working in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Lists)
• Business, Finance, Economics, Aviation, or related major
• Basic experience with Data Management (Python, SQL, STATA, SAS, MATLAB, etc.)
• Experience with writing memos or summaries

Internship Details:

• These details are subject to change.
• The format is expected to be hybrid
• The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
• This internship is expected to start in September or October with an end date that will be determined after the internship starts
• This internship will require 10-20 hours per week
