Job Description

SALARY


The minimum salary is $20.046 per hour
This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime, if applicable.
Pay Grade 515
  • NOTE: Please do NOT apply if you do not have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION


The purpose of this classification is to control and repair excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, aerial equipment and other large machinery that move materials to and from a construction site.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of related experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completing major repair work/welding with heavy equipment as needed
  • Driving or controlling heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
  • Filling out performance records to report problems with equipment and track where and when it was used
  • Cleaning equipment after use and disposing of any collected scraps or waste
  • Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to perform tasks correctly
  • Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure it's in good working order
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION


Class A and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate in order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
  • Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
  • Must be accessible to on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
  • All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

EXAMINATION

The applicant's training and experience will be evaluated based on the information provided by the filing deadline date on this job posting. Applicants that meet the minimum requirements of this posting, will be invited to take the performance (Driving) examination. After passing the examination, the applicant may be contacted for an interview.
