Job Description
Are you a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science or Kinesiology? Do you have a passion for promoting health, wellness, and physical fitness? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at StretchLab Woodbury as an Exercise Science Specialist.


As an Exercise Science Specialist, you will be trained to become a stretch professional, or a Certified Flexologist at StretchLab. You will work 20-25 hours per week and play a vital role in designing, implementing, and overseeing stretching programs tailored to individual client’s needs and goals. Your expertise in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and exercise prescription will be instrumental in helping clients improve their overall health and fitness levels. You will work with diverse populations, including athletes, individuals seeking weight management, seniors looking to maintain mobility, and those with specific health conditions.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaboration: Work closely with other fitness professionals, such as personal trainers, physical therapists, and nutritionists, to provide comprehensive wellness support to clients.
  • Educational Support: Educate clients on the importance of exercise and its impact on overall health. Offer guidance on nutrition, injury prevention, and recovery strategies.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe exercise environment by adhering to all health and safety guidelines. Stay updated on industry standards and implement appropriate protocols.
  • Research and Development: Stay informed about the latest developments in exercise science, fitness trends, and innovative training methods. Incorporate evidence-based practices into your programming.
  • Motivation and Support: Encourage and motivate clients to stay committed to their exercise routines. Offer ongoing support, feedback, and positive reinforcement to help them stay on track.
  • Client Assessment and Goal Setting: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' fitness levels, medical history, and specific objectives. Collaborate with clients to set realistic and achievable fitness goals.
  • Stretching & Instruction: Provide clear and detailed instructions on proper exercise techniques and form to clients. Monitor their progress and make adjustments as needed to optimize results.
  • Customized Exercise Programming: Develop personalized exercise programs based on clients' assessments, goals, and unique requirements. Ensure that programs are safe, effective, and aligned with best practices in the field.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of client progress, session notes, and assessments. Use data to track clients' improvements and adjust programs accordingly.


Qualifications:


  • Passion for promoting health and wellness through exercise.
  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and exercise prescription.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client schedules.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field OR Certification from a recognized fitness organization (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, NASM) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients of all ages and fitness levels.
  • Ability to design and modify exercise programs to suit individual needs and goals.
  • Prior experience in conducting fitness assessments and creating personalized exercise plans is advantageous.
