POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Environmental Service Tech Job Grade: 631

This Position Reports to: Environmental Services Assistant Manager and or Director
Department: Environmental Services (EVS)
Position Purpose:
Provide daily cleaning and re-stock patient rooms, nurses stations, lounges, rest rooms, offices and any other duties as assigned. Must be able to demonstrate and articulate the knowledge and skills of space cleaning. Assist with moving of patient furniture and mattresses. Projects consisting of cleaning walls, lights, vents, windows etc. Set up meetings and conference rooms.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Adapt to individual situations and changing work demands, team player and take initiative. Communicate clearly and be knowledgeable. Respects privacy and maintains confidentiality-HIPPA.
- Use appropriate channels for problem solving. Give and accept constructive criticism. Remain flexible.
- Attend department meetings and ongoing training.
- Isolation cleaning procedures as required by hospital infection control.
- Observe and report maintenance issues that need repair such as equipment, furniture and building fixtures.
- Equipment cleaning includes IV poles, Porta Potty’s and pumps such as overlay, leg pumps, Bi Pap machine.
- Will use-cleaning devices including micro fiber pads, 12-20 oz wet mops, wringers, dusters, commercial type vacuum cleaners and other necessary tools, products and supplies.
- In case of fire or other internal/external disasters, perform department duties as assigned
- Perform established cleaning functions in assigned areas. To include stock supplies, high dusting, sanitizing discharges, daily cleans sanitize high touch areas, restroom cleaning, empty wastebaskets, floor dusting, vacuum carpet, floor sanitizing, your inspection.
- Assist cleaning of emergency spills observed or requested.
- Proper use of cleaning chemicals, labeling, mixing and wear appropriate PPE. Will be required to understand and be able to explain the use of chemicals and how to find Safety Data Sheet.
- Climbing ladders for window/light/vent cleaning and changing privacy curtains.
- Practice fundamentals of patient communication "ADIET"
- Make corrections when traveling about facility such as picking debris off of floor, empty trash and reporting cleaning needs.
- Follow Universal Precautions and procedures when handling and transporting of large quantities of trash, Bio-Hazardous Waste Material, Sharps containers and Clean/Soiled Linen.
- Perform daily, discharge or transfer cleaning of patient rooms, to include bed stripping and re-making.
- Pushing/Pulling - there will be times may need to Push/Pull a cart that weights upwards of 800 pounds (see Physical Activity) but it takes 49 pounds of push/pull force to maneuver that cart.

Education Required: Basic Skill Set
Education Preference: High School Diploma/GED
Minimum Experience Requirements: No Experience
Minimum Experience Preferences: 3+ Months Technical Experience.
Additional Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Follow hospital policies and procedures as related to Safety, chemical usage and Isolation cleaning
