Summary
The primary role for the Events Manager is to oversee the sales, planning, operations, and growth of events for the Smuttynose Field at Towle Farm venue. This includes managing the event sales funnel from generating and following up with leads to price proposals, event planning, staffing, execution, and payment. Role also includes developing event operational procedures, marketing materials, seasonal staff hiring, event product ordering and inventory control, Toast menu pricing, and customer service. Specific tasks and activities required will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Other duties as required
  • Work with leadership team to develop strategies for annual growth.
  • Perform market research and attend off-site industry related conference/showcases to establish contacts, identify event opportunities, and generate interest in The Field at Towle Farm.
  • Source and build relationships with preferred event vendors to supplement Smuttynose venue offerings including food, entertainment, parking, and shuttle services.
  • Instructing staff on how to handle all customer relation situations in the appropriate manner and provide exceptional, prompt customer service during events.
  • Manage event payments by creating event proposals, bar tabs, and customer payment correspondence.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and evaluating event staff.
  • Propose new ideas and strategies to improve the event planning and implementation process.
  • Provide training to improve the knowledge base of the staff and utilize cross-training methods to maintain productivity when employees change roles or are absent.
  • Develop calendar of Smuttynose hosted events on non-peak days to supplement private bookings and ensure as many in-season dates are utilized as possible, driving traffic to campus and revenue to event bar.
  • Plan, design, and execute all events held on campus in The Field at Towle Farm including but not limited to beer releases, corporate and private parties, festivals, signature events, non-profit events, socials, holiday festivities, and weddings.
  • Manage staff scheduling for event setup, breakdown, and bar service.
  • Gain knowledge on the history of Smuttynose, the brewing process, and product ingredients/ tasting profiles to provide information to potential clients for event bookings and bar requests.
  • Maintain a collaborative dialogue with the Restaurant General Manager and Hospitality Director to capitalize on opportunities to benefit the entire Smuttynose campus from product sharing based on demand, event hosting to drive traffic, promotions to drive sales, and process improvements for an ideal customer experience. Includes attending bi-weekly Hospitality department meetings.
  • Act as supervisor or delegate a MOD for each event held on campus to ensure proper venue setup, proactively handle any arising issues, and troubleshoot emerging problems on event day.
  • Ensure all events/functions adhere to legal, health and safety guidelines.
  • Manage staff tip payouts per event.
Position Requirements

  • Proficient in social media platforms, MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and outlook; working knowledge of One Drive desirable
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute events
  • Knowledge of all company polices and procedures
  • Strong understanding of POS systems, preferably Toast
