POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
EVENING WELDING TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR – TCAT CRUMP
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Evening Welding Technology Instructor to be located at the Main Campus in Crump, Tennessee. This position will coordinate the college’s 7 Welding Technology programs as well as teach the part-time evening program. Class hours: 3:00 – 9:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Additional 13.5 work hours administrative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applicant must have good communications and computer skills and be willing to remain current in the field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of employment experience in the occupation to be taught.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Postsecondary training from a technical school or manufacturing school in Welding Technology or related field
  • Must possess knowledge, skills, and experience to provide effective instruction in gas metal arc, tungsten inert gas, and shielded metal arc welding; oxyacetylene fusion, inner shield welding, flux core welding, flame cutting, brazing and soldering and related components of the Welding Technology program.
GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position is responsible for providing individualized classroom and lab instruction to high school and adult students in all phases of the Welding Technology Program
  • Coordinate curriculum, learning outcomes, equipment, supplies and accreditation efforts for all Welding Technology programs.
  • The instructor shall develop, plan and prepare a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignment and instructional aides, and keep these revised and up to date to meet the requirements of industry.
  • The instructor will assist with student placement and student follow-up.
  • Develop an active program advisory committee comprised of professionals from industry.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Motivation, conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance of student during the time he/she is on the institution campus are also duties of the Welding Technology Instructor.
  • The Welding Technology Instructor shall be directly responsible to the institution administration.
  • Effectively communicate pertinent information to all Welding Technology instructors.
  • Conduct visits to business and industry.
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain student records.
  • Establish and maintain good public relations within the college’s service area.
  • Engage in the recruitment of students for all welding programs.
  • Serve as the liaison between dual enrollment welding and the college.
SALARY: Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines. Associate Instructor Range: $49,159 - $58,991.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects in a classroom and shop setting.

  • Operate a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
  • Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions.
